As I already clarified in a previous article, mosaic wall has evolved into a sophisticated, yet affordable home interior art form. This art form marks an adventurous new direction in today’s homes. Now, is the right time to forget everything you thought you knew about mosaic art. The stalwartly minimalist, antique, and pricey home ornament has a completely new course. In a recent collaboration with mosaic artists, architects and artisans, the art form has released a new vision, to transform this antique, traditional mosaic art of Byzantine and Roman eras into a contemporary, yet fashionable ornament. Taking a nod from the latest decorative avant-garde aesthetic, mosaic art is plastering everything from walls and ceilings, to floors, landscapes and home accessories.

Historically, this art form has been in a process of constant evolution, as it has always been closely intertwined with the history of art and antiquity. These last few years have been mosaic dreams, people are becoming more interested in the art and science of mosaics. However, it’s hard to identify if it’s going to bond or disperse down in history as the next trends of bygone eras. Home decor trends come and go and suddenly, come back again. With many emerging mosaic designs, some will have a persistent power, and some will disperse with cozy breakfast nooks. Where the question remains: How long will the trend last? Is it Timeless or Timely, and what should I expect in the coming year?

Have you ever looked through the kaleidoscope? It’s wholly hypnotic and attention-grabbing, a simple childhood recall and a sensory bliss unblemished by adult pursuits. When I first came across Nathalie Vin’s mosaic designs I was utterly unsettled… It was just like looking into a mirror and not noticing my reflection, I dismissed her art work as a means to shock her way into the art world. But guess what? Nowadays it became harder for artists to leave a peculiar, yet outrageous impression in the creative scene. In fact, the art world became more open to creative, bizarre and new concepts. Who would have thought that the blank canvas of Rauschenberg would have gotten so far?

One hundred years ago today, the scientific community observed the knowledge of Earth’s history turning into a progressively less effective guide to the future. Civilization enters a dark edge in the practical perception of our planet. To get more insight into the subject, one must picture himself in his grandchildren’s time, a century hence. Major global warming has occurred, as scientists forecasted. For instance nature’s longstanding, repeatable patterns are no longer so reliable. Cycles that have been fundamentally determined during modern history are today disrupted by extensive changes in temperature and condensation. As Earth’s temperate alleviates, new patterns begin to appear. Initially, they are confusing and hard to spot. Scientists note similarities to Earth’s emergence from the last ice age. These new patterns need many years to reveal themselves fully, even when monitored with contemporary observing systems. Meanwhile, the farmers will struggle to predict new seasonal patterns and regularly plant the wrong crops. Early signs of major drought will go unrecognized, so costly irrigation will be built in the wrong places.
